The Message Oriented Middleware Association (MOMA) is a worldwide association of users, suppliers and consultants dedicated to enhancing the interoperability and functionality of distributed and client-server computing environments through message-oriented middleware. MOMA's objectives include: 1) using member input to enhance the depth, breadth,and value of message passing and queuing technologies; and 2) educating the market on the many distributed computing benefits of messaging technologies. The purposes are to: help simplify business processed-engineering; reducing application development time; improve the productivity of IT resources; and further distributed computing technology adoption and its value to user organizations, vendors, OEMs and systems integrators.

The SMDS Interest Group (SIG) is an industry association of service providers, equipment manufacturers, users and others working cooperatively to speed the proliferation and interoperability of SMDS services, products and applications. The Interest Group develops technical specifications,promotes awareness of SMDS, stimulates new applications for SMDS and ensures worldwide service interoperability together with is international affiliates. The Group was formed in 1990 and has established affiliates in Europe and the Pacific Rim.
